Bilderberg is usually interesting, and 2011 certainly did not disappoint. Apart from the occasional slip-up, it all ran wonderfully smoothly. A few familiar faces, some more receptive to our policies than others. A pity, then, that Miliband junior and Bercow minor seem unable to behave in a reasonable manner during my absence...

An interesting suggestion, but one that I doubt will come to fruition damn it.

It would mean spending rather less time at home than I've grown accustomed to, but no doubt the look on Gordon's face challenge of the role would more than compensate...

Hmm...

This might be worth investigating for one of the smaller and potentially more mobile server arrays, especially as the installation of the improved lenses will considerably up the demands on CPU time for image processing.

...people do seem to get the wrong idea rather easily.

Progress on The Machine: Improved psuedo-synapsial cables and a workbench for grinding out the bespoke quartz lenses required for sub-cellular resolution on the omniview have arrived.

John, no word as yet on the construction of the green tea sub-unit, so you retain a position of at least some importance to Her Majesty's Government.

Progress on The Machine: New OS (occult spell-set) crashed after only 6 hours. Need to reload entire rune inventory and reinstall from scratch. Crash caused minor portal open up between nether-dimensions and tea cupboard. Tea now infested with demons. All stocks undrinkable.

Coded small piece of malware in fit of pique. Victims experience all the effects of a bad case of flu, with no symptoms visible to others.

Replaced Hague's shampoo with Veet again. The Great Old Ones Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fhtagn! always the best.

Progress on The Machine: Lattice tower now installed and fully rigged, with only minor injuries to engineering crew. This should enable 'remote access' over much larger distances. Unfortunately, haven't found a way around the Heisenberg uncertainty principle yet; the clarity of the message conveyed is inversely proportional to the distance from the tower.

Preliminary tests expected this afternoon.

Photographs below the cut. )

Update: Success!  Time for a nap, I think.

It appears statistics may be useful for world domination.

Progress on The Machine: subject was sucessfully put to sleep for an extended period of time. Remote waking unsucessful, but manual methods adequate. Propose to expand trials to larger and multiple test subjects. Possibly during PMQs.

At last!  The thaumaturgical processing circle (TPC) of The Machine is now operational!

Pictures under the cut. )

Needless to say, this is all most gratifying.  Unfortunately the scriptural transmogrifiers currently have a very high thaum output, requiring gallons of sacrificial blood to prevent a multi-dimensional meltdown.   The next step is to reduce this down to only a gallon or so per 'stack', a volume easily supplied by regular Westminster blood donation sessions.
