IMF

An interesting suggestion, but one that I doubt will come to fruition damn it.

It would mean spending rather less time at home than I've grown accustomed to, but no doubt the look on Gordon's face challenge of the role would more than compensate...

Hmm...

Don't take this badly, but you haven't exactly got Gordon's economic expertise.

I agree wholeheartedly with my right honourable wife.

He could well save us from Osborne's plans. Until we get in, of course, but I'm not sure the economy can wait four years.

Could sort out the IMF in general. Bloody bastards are almost as mad as Osborne thinking spending cuts can cure fucking cancer.

At least they kept their mouths shut when it mattered, though.

Looks like Gordon doesn't want it after all. At least, that's what he says.

Wouldn't trust the papers as far as you can throw 'em.

Though it wouldn't be the worst idea if he stayed as an MP. Y'know... a by-election in Scotland in this climate

He's quite attached to his patch in Scotland anyway. The world leaves him alone up there.

I won't be back in Yorkshire until late. We're still trying to get Ken Clarke thrown out.

It's much less exciting than opening a post office.

Should I try the same tactics with Libby or Luke when they repeat that silly anti-Labour rhetoric you've instilled in them?

My children are humans. And when they're in a mischievous mood, they'll draw on the walls or play their parents off one other regarding biscuits and pocket money. Little harm done. Your machine likes to delete important documents from my hard drive and electrocute me.

If you think you can compare them, you're more far gone than I thought.

The difference is in capability, not motive; your children cannot delete important documents nor electrocute you, and my Machine cannot draw on walls and has no desire for either biscuits or pocket money.

On the contrary, Luke and Liberty could quite easily be more destructive - they could be violent, they could purposefully knock over candles, anything which crossed their minds or they saw on cartoon network, or indeed in their classroom with their less well behaved peers, biting, kicking and screaming their way through life. They don't. They've been taught how to behave. Your Machine hasn't. They know right and wrong. Your Machine doesn't - it knows what is and what isn't and what's Conservative. Their moral compasses are well spun. Your Machine doesn't have one.

Stop pretending that my politics has anything to do with anything. I'm a Conservative! If it makes me a bad person, why spend so much time with me? Why not just stop if my party is such a problem for you personally?

At least then maybe your monster will leave my homes alone and my children could go into the kitchen again. What with the fear of innumerable volts running through their bodies hanging over our heads, they haven't been in their for a while.

Now you're being absurd. The Machine has never electrocuted anyone but you and even then it was very low current; I suspect you've had worse shocks from static after walking on a synthetic carpet.

It hasn't. Because they've not been able to acces the kitchen. I'm not taking the risk. And I frankly don't believe that it wouldn't.

Because you've clearly been on the receiving end of your bot's games...

I want no more to do with it. Not in my house. Not in my workplace.

Clearly there have been several previous altercations between the two of you at which I, sadly not as omnipotent nor omnipresent as the papers claim, was not present and of which was therefore unaware. Did it ever occur to you that, rather than sulking, whining and eventually traumatising a young... sentient being into hiding, you could simply have asked me to rein it in?

I was aware you disliked The Machine. I was aware that you blamed it for your inability to use a letter box or an oven or a door bell. I was even aware that it had conferred a minor electrostatic charge on some of your possessions at number 10. A residence, I note, which does not contain any children, yours or otherwise.

...presumably you have some other reason for upsetting it so much that it went offline entirely?

You saw what was said.

Indeed, I saw you thank The Machine for giving you some sort of warning. You then proceeded to call it a toy, a plaything and said that it was unable to feel.

Incidentally, you were wrong on all counts.

After it had taken over my entire screen, preventing me from doing any work, it emphasised my insignificance in a far too familiar tone and wished a painful death upon me.

So I didn't happen to feel very accomodating to its games.

Your record on acting upon the Machine's actions is hardly awe inspiring.

And I did attempt to tell you, which was why I wished to speak to you, but I note you were there for exactly five minutes, which were fairly unproductive.
