Are there? What's being said?

*Goes through to kitchen and starts to make scrambled eggs*

'Morning Oliver.

Scrambled eggs.

Yes, you can have some too.

Uncle Peter's in the living room, go and say hello so I can concentrate.

*continues to make scrambled eggs for three people*

The general tone is more positive...

Good morning Oliver.

Freddie did what?

Well, that was very kind of him, wasn't it? I'm sure the bogeyman was absolutely terrified of all the little lights, they generally are.

You don't? Well it was good of you to pretend to believe him then. He was trying to be nice after all.

Yes, perhaps you should go and fetch him so that he doesn't miss out on breakfast.

Oliver, where are you going?

To get Freddie?

Go and get your mother and Jemima as well, we may as well use up all the eggs.

*Makes scrambled eggs on toast for whole house*

Peter, lay the table, will you?

Let Oliver do it, he enjoys the responsibility.

Yes, good morning dear.

Freddie, Oliver, go set the table for six, will you? Good boys.

Yes, dear, six; Peter's in the living room.

Well I thought you might have heard us last night.

...We were playing fireflies.

We were too! Ask Freddie! He was there!

Oh do calm down and get the plates from the top shelf won't you?

Thank you.

*Serves up*

*Levitates through scrambled egg on toast*

Up the table, everyone.

*wanders in*

Good morning, Sally, did you see Ed on the Marr show this morning?

Yes he was very good. Don't worry, it's been recorded.

You're welcome.

*sits down*

*glances suspiciously at Jemima*

*sprinkles salt in a semi circle, muttering*

Dig in, everyone.

Yes, of course dear, there is it.

Peter, stop using up all the salt. I'll have to add it to the shopping list.

No, Freddie, pass it to your brother, don't levitate it when he's sitting next to you. You do still have hands.

No, Jemima. Thank you, but no.

...and what a burden that would be.

*glances up*

Don't even think about it, Jemima.

Hmm, what's that Freddie?

It's a ward, a sort of magical, invisible wall. You sprinkle the salt where you want it to go like this, then say the incantation...

*mutters*

...and now if anyone throws any food at you it will bounce off. Of course, if you...

...

...as I was saying, if you try and throw food it will also bounce off the ward.

And that's why you should listen to all the instructions first, Freddie.

Come on, lets get you cleaned up.

No, Oliver, that doesn't prove that magic is bad. All it proves is Freddie needs to listen more.

Put it down Jemima.

Jemima?

*creates a blue ball hovering over her plate*

Put the egg down and play with that instead if you're not hungry.

Oliver, if magic is bad, would your father spend so much time practicing it?

There, all clean.

Yes, Oliver. Listen to Uncle Peter. Don't get used to me saying that.

Come on boys - who can clean up the most the fastest, hmm?

Jemima, go play with whatever it is Uncle Peter gave you.

You're far more stoic about it than you used to be, the experience is clearly beneficial.

...I'm not sure if it will not be more amusing to watch Cable go back on his previous statements and be forced to justify the secrecy of these documents.

Have you give any thought to what could broadly be described as 'the right thing to do'?

*rests chin on hand*

That's a somewhat leading question, John. I would say the broader issue is, as someone who is no longer in government, whether it would be appropriate for me to interfere with what is clearly a government issue. Now, if Cable decides that he wishes to stick to his pre-coalition pledges and reveal the documents then he is perfectly entitled to try and do so; he may run up against some resistance from his coalition partners, but I am afraid that is one of the perils of shared governance.
