Date: 2012-02-23 02:00 pm (UTC)Peter,
It threatened to derail proceedings today, so I had to curb the debates. I appear to be labouring under the misapprehension that you are in possession of abilities to stop incidences similar to those last night from occurring. I sincerly hope that if it is proven that you actually do have such powers, you will see fit to use them in future.

PS: thank you.

Precisely when has that ever stopped you before?
-John
PS: You're welcome.

not the point.

The point is he assaulted and intimidated fellow MPs, caused hundred of pounds worth of damage, embarrassed our entire legislature in front of overseas guests and you could have attempted to stop it but instead did nothing.

I am retired. I do not watch over every member of my party during every moment of every day and it is absurd to pretend that I could.

You have The Machine, for goodness sake! That's exactly what The Machine does!

...I will concede that point, however I do still find it a trifle unkind for you to blame me for the actions of someone else entirely.

Date: 2012-02-23 02:59 pm (UTC)Peter,
I am not blaming you for his actions, nor am I saying that you are responsible for the behaviour of every member of your party. I am simply irritated that this happened and that I had to curb the proceedings of parliament in the first place.

I appeal to the hon. Member for Buckingham to calm himself. Perhaps he should take up yoga.

I believe, in this instance, tea would be more helpful.

...what are you doing, Peter?

Date: 2012-02-23 04:09 pm (UTC)Speaking of which, if you wish me to continuously monitor all MPs within a 5 mile radius of the parliamentary estate, finger hovering over the 'sleep' button, in order to avert future disturbances I will of course bow to your judgement. However, it does raise the issue of MPs outside this rather meagre area and whether it would be advisable to expand the effective range of The Machine to meet the challenges of a considerably more mobile set of MPs than was the case even a century ago.

Date: 2012-02-23 04:17 pm (UTC)Keeping an eye on the behaviour of your own party's MPs would be a start. You don't have to knock them unconscious, but letting those around know what's about to happen so it can be sorted out quickly and with minimal damage would be nice.
And you're not moving The Machine so stop trying to find arguments for it.

It was just a suggestion.
...how about a geostationary satellite or two?

Date: 2012-02-23 04:33 pm (UTC)No, Peter. The Machine is perfectly fine and does not need a wider range.

I am attempting to make a major contribution to the body of thaumaturgical research and am constantly stymied by your obstructionary attitude.
